The term wedding stationery is a general term used for all printed materials for the wedding. Although the expense for a wedding stationery package will not cause a serious dent on your wedding budget, you should never forget to include this when considering what items to spend on. The wedding stationery package is usually composed of the wedding invitation, the response card, and the thank you card. The wedding invitation serves as a formal announcement to your relatives, friends, and colleagues about your upcoming wedding. The response card, usually called the RSVP card, is a note sent together with the invitation to allow guests to tell you if they can attend the wedding or not. Obviously, the thank you card is the note you send to the guests who attended the wedding.The wedding stationery can also include the reception card, the wedding programs, the wedding announcements, the place card, wedding favor tags, maps, and pew tags. These are not as important as the first three mentioned in the preceding paragraph. They are optional items that most definitely add class to your wedding. A reception card is a card inserted inside the invitation to inform guests of the location of the reception when it is different from the site of the ceremony. The wedding program on the other hand guides your guest through the wedding reception. A wedding announcement is similar to a weeding invitation but it is sent to family members and friends who cannot attend the wedding ceremonies and reception. A place card is a card placed on tables at the reception to allow guests to find where they are seated easily. For those who are giving away wedding favors or bonbonnieres, they should have special tags that state their name and the date of the wedding. If the wedding ceremony is far from the reception, the bride and groom may want to consider inserting a map inside the invitation that would direct the guests on where to find the reception. If the wedding is quite large, pew cards may also be needed to direct certain guests where they are supposed to be seated in church.
A wedding stationery may seem to be an unimportant part of a wedding. It is considered by some people as an additional expense that can be omitted in the wedding budget. However, if you choose wisely what your wedding stationery package will contain and keep it to the basics, investing on even the most minimal wedding stationery package will make a big difference to your wedding.
