My favorite pictures are of my children, of course. Their smiles on the pictures remind me of the times that they were taken. Most summers I take them to McCrory Gardens in August when the flowers are in full bloom to capture not only the beauty of my children but the beauty of nature, as well. I love pictures of sunsets that I have taken, especially with the water reflections of the ocean. What more is there to say? Family and Friends mean the world to me. The sound of my children"s laughter is my favorite sound in the whole world so I try to hear it as often as I can. I am the youngest of seven children and have 21 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews on my side alone so there is never a dull moment at family get-togethers. Honey Bees Beekeeping How To Handle Honey Bees

Intruders are going to get stung by the bees protecting the hive. As a bee-keeper you have to understand that you will get your fair share of stings. If you have any fear of honey bees or of being stung, you will have to overcome those misgivings. As you gain confidence and become more proficient at handling honey bees, you will be stung less often.One of the tips you will want to learn is when to manipulate bees. You can open a hive and examine the honey bee colonies on days that are warm and sunny with no wind. The older bees will be out foraging for food on those days, but they will stay in the hive on colder, windy and rainy days. When there is an abundance of nectar, honey bees are much easier to examine. Plying them with sugar syrup may help, but not always. Spring is the best time to examine the bees because there less bees in the colony.Honey bees will usually tolerate a gentle bee-keeper handling them for 10 to 15 minutes. It is best not to keep the hives open much longer than you have to. Brood examinations should never be drawn out. When inspecting the hives, if the honey bees become noisy or very defensive, it might be better to close the hive. If there is honey in the combs, this could attract robber bees unless there is an over abundance of nectar. If robbing starts, you might need to stop examinations for the rest of the day and reduce the entrances to the hives. Once the robbing starts it is not easy to stop.If you need to examine a colony, always have a lighted smoker so that you can produce cool smoke. Before you open the hives, you want to puff smoke into the entrance of the hive. Some bee-keepers move on to other colonies allowing time for the bees to react to the smoke before they return and open the hive. Keep your smoker handy because you will need it when making your inspections of each colony. When you lift the roof put in a few puffs of smoke to clam the honey bees. When you are near the bees, you should move carefully so that you do not alarm them. When removing the roof of the hive be as gentle as possible, honey bees are sensitive to vibrations, avoid any jolting of the hives. After removing the roof of the hive, work from the back or the side. The first frame to be removed for examination should be the frame nearest the outside edge. If robbing is not a problem, you can lean the frame against the outside of the hive to give you more room to work or you can lay it flat on top of the other frames this helps to keep the honey bees down in the frames or you can use a manipulation cloth. When you need to remove the frame, pry it loose with the hive tool. With a firm grip on the loosened frame, gently lift it, trying not to scrape the bees on the adjoining frame. Leave the frame outside of the hive, to give you a larger working area. If you scrape the comb or frame, you can leave the scrapings in the hive the bees will clean it up.

Throughout a nectar flow, many of the older workers will be in the field hunting for food. This is the best time to examine the colony. During the summer more honey bees will be in the hive as the queen will have produced more brood and the situation might change, particularly between the nectar flows. There can be some robbing going on at this time, which will make the bees even more defensive at any intrusion to their hive. Leaving the colony open for more than a few minutes can increase robbing so can leaving cappings or honeycomb exposed. It is important to reduce the size of the entrance of a weak colony so that they can defend the hive and prevent the stronger colonies robbing from it. A honey flow will reduce the likelihood of robbing.The mood of the bees can have a lot to do with the weather or the time of day. On rainy days or when there are cool temperatures, in the early morning or late in the afternoon honey bees are likely to be more defensive and they will attack. Where possible inspect them on warm, sunny days in the middle of the day when most of the bees are foraging.Ensure there is a constant water supply for the honey bees to cool the hive and dilute honey to feed their young. They will collect water from the closest water source. If you do not have a constant supply of shallow water for the bees, they will look for it elsewhere, like the neighbour"s pool, birdbath or garden pond. The bees are more likely to drown in those sources. If you have a water supply for them when they first fly out in spring, they will not go anywhere else for water. Once they find a water source, it is hard to keep them from going back to it. A bee-keeper needs to keep the bees under control every time the hive is open. A typical hive can house thousands of workers all capable of stinging. Smoke is an important tool for the bee-keeper when opening a hive. Smoke should be used in moderation, but the smoker should be capable of producing large volumes of smoke at short notice. The bee-keeper must smoke the entrance of the hive, under the cover, and periodically smoke the frames while the hive is open. Try not to bump the hive or the frames as this might anger the bees, which will make it harder for a bee-keeper to do his work. The bee-keeper must work quickly and carefully. By going through the frames several times a year, the bee-keeper keeps the frames movable.

Ace Invaders is a three line poker game. The top two games are played like stud Poker, and the third line is played like traditional draw poker. Once all the games are played, then the payout system kicks in. You see, Ace Invaders doesn"t pay out immediately. First the game checks the top line for a paying combination, and then pays out for that. Then it checks to see if any of the top cards help you on the second line, or are aces. Those cards drop down and become part of the hand on the second line. This repeats itself on the second line, paying out, then checking to see if the cards would help on the first line, and then drops those cards down again before finally paying out on the first line. Finally, after all that, the third line is calculated. A bit confusing, but you get to understand after a while. The theoretical return on Ace Invaders is also a little tricky. The top two hands hold about a 65 percent return. However, in order to compensate that low return, if you win the bonus hand, the return is around 200 percent.
